The National Government officially authorized the Spanish airline Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas to operate the route connecting Madrid with Buenos Aires, within the framework of the commercial airline deregulation and 'open skies' policy. This measure, aimed at fostering competitiveness in the sector, was communicated through the Official Bulletin via Resolution 40/2025, signed by the Undersecretary of Civil Aviation, Hernán Adrián Gómez, according to the Argentine News Agency. From now on, the company is formally authorized to offer regular and non-regular passenger and cargo air transport services, combined, on the Madrid-Buenos Aires (Ezeiza) route and vice versa. They will operate 2 weekly frequencies between May 23 and June 30, 2026, increasing to 4 weekly frequencies between July 1 and September 26, 2026. The authorities explained that the legal validation is based on the bilateral Air Services Agreement signed in 1947, as well as updates formalized in the consultation minutes of 2005 and 2019. This service expands benefits to include two pieces of carry-on luggage, priority check-in and boarding, and access to the VIP lounge at Adolfo Suárez Airport in Madrid. The arrival of Plus Ultra coincides with the tenth anniversary of the agreement, whose commercial strategy focuses on connectivity between Spain and Latin America. After presenting the administrative and technical documentation required by current regulations, the airline's suitability to operate in Argentine territory was accredited, complying with the reciprocity requirements between both nations. Although the company had anticipated ticket sales in November under the warning 'subject to government approval', the administrative confirmation allows the schedule to be ratified. The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart from Spain on May 23, 2026, and ticket sales with an origin in Madrid are already enabled. Sales for itineraries starting at Ezeiza International Airport have not yet begun. The price scheme presented by the airline proposes a value of approximately 534 euros for the Tourist Flash class, which includes carry-on luggage, a personal accessory, one piece of checked baggage, meal service, and seat selection (subject to modifications). As for the Business Class, the fare is around 1,229 euros.
